Victory’s ‘Double Crosses’ set to take Sydney Motorcycle Show by storm
This year’s Sydney Motorcycle Show, to be held at Sydney Olympic Park over November 20-22, will see the Aussie public catch its first glimpse of two all-new models from Victory Motorcycles. Set to bust the V-twin touring market wide open, all eyes at the Victory Motorcycles stand will be firmly fixed upon the Victory Cross Roads and Victory Cross Country – models that blend true thoroughbred performance, all-day comfort and superb luggage-carrying ability with Victory’s unique, unequivocal sense of style.
Spearheading the assault of Victory Motorcycle’s stunning new range of models, the pair are both powered by the American marque’s take-no-prisoners 106-cubic-inch (1731cc) ‘Freedom’ V-twin engine. Offering a thumping 92hp, this powerplant also delivers a whopping 109ftlb of torque – most of it available from as low as 2500rpm – and it feeds the grunt down to the ground via a six-speed true over drive gearbox.
The V-twin touring world just turned nasty, with the arrival of the 2010 Victory Cross Country. This sinister road-going battleship features a sleek, batwing-style front fairing and low screen, while at the rear a pair of colour-coded and integrated hard panniers offer a voluminous 21 gallons (approx. 80 litres) of storage space. This puts the Cross Country at the top of the heap in terms of storage capacity for this genre of bike.
Blending contemporary lines with a healthy dose of traditional bagger style, the Cross Country also features a stepped ‘king and queen’-style saddle, extra-long floorboards for both rider and pillion and a thoroughly evil ‘silver skull on black’ paint scheme that simply oozes bad attitude. And with an AM/FM twin-speaker stereo (with MP3 jack) plus electronic cruise control, you can rest assured this bike’s got the creature comforts covered.
The rear monoshock and inverted front fork deliver 4.7in of suspension travel to smooth the road ahead, while a powerful braking package – featuring braided steel lines and a twin-disc front end – allow you to haul the Cross Country down from speed with ease.
For those who like a slightly more traditional flavour when racking up their highway miles, Victory’s 2010 Cross Roads delivers 21st century performance with timeless elegance and style. Also boasting the 106-cubic-inch ‘Freedom’ V-twin and class-leading integrated pannier system, the Cross Roads features a broad Lexan windshield and a traditional bent-tube highway ’bar.
Contemporary bullet-style indicators, a lustrous solid maroon paint scheme and acres of dazzling chrome complete the picture, while alloy wheels complement the bare beauty of that stunning V-twin powerplant. On a Victory Cross Roads, or a Victory Cross Country, the destination’s irrelevant; the ride is everything.
The models will both be available in early 2010 – for more information, or to find your nearest Victory Motorcycles dealership, call (03) 9342 3888 or visit www.victorymotorcycles.com.au
